Chisholm Trail Community Band

Our Mission...

To provide opportunities for instrumental musicians of intermediate-professional levels of experience to make music together, and to enrich the Johnson County area through fine arts.

About the Band

CTCB is open to all community members 14+ who have at least some experience playing an instrument and reading music. Members must have their own instruments (with the exception of percussionists), and we can direct you to places where you can purchase one if you do not currently have one. Those wishing to join must be willing to audition at the request of the director. There will be no membership fee for the Chisholm Trail Community Band.

We will have three seasons throughout the year: a pops concert in the Spring, a patriotic concert in the Summer, and a holiday concert in the Winter. In addition to the seasonal concerts, we hope to be able to perform at events within the community! Our rehearsals will take place every Wednesday from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Keene High School Band Hall.

About the Director

Carissa Cromer Emery is a graduate of Howard Payne University and Tarleton State University, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education. She has served as the director of bands at Keene Independent School District since 2019, as well as the district’s fine arts coordinator since 2020. Her work at Keene ISD has led to the development of a marching band, jazz band, and multi-level concert bands, leading to the success of her students at both the regional and state levels. Carissa is also an active French Horn player. She served as the horn player for the Texas State Guard Brass Ensemble from 2020-2023, and currently works as the adjunct horn professor at Southwestern Adventist University. She is also a member of Tau Beta Sigma National Band Sorority. Carissa has a deep passion for band and instrumental music, and her hope is to share that love with the Johnson County area through this community band. When she is not teaching or performing, Carissa loves spending time with her husband Timothy and their two pugs, Paddy and Pongo.

Please contact Carissa at ccromer@keeneisd.org with any questions you have or to schedule an audition.
